YOU MAY NOT RIDE

Prompted by the word Borders, I created a medium unlimited by the pages' edges—a poster which folds down into an 8-panel book. The design was inspired by a social experiment questioning personal spatial boundaries: Are we aware and respectful of our surroundings, whether people or objects? I set a Twister board in a heavily trafficked area near a train station and bus stop, and I watched as most people walked around the obstacle. Some played the game, and some obliviously walked right over it unaffected. I paired the photos with a humorous New Yorker article by Marsh McCall entitled You May Not Ride On This Attraction.
